Homes have contrasting types of central heating
There are many different types of gas Central Heating Systems available to you. These systems for the most part are made up of a number of central heating radiators, pipework and of course a gas heating boiler.
Air conditioning is not a priority for residents of Europe and northern countries as these regions experience cold weather most of the year with short duration summertimes. Today a good Central Heating system has become a major part of every household, so much so that it is being installed in all the new houses that are being constructed.
With wintertime coming up round the corner heating should be at the front of your mind. A heated home has a comfortable and enjoyable feel to it. For this, you need a reliable boiler in your Gas Central Heating system. Additionally, your central heating system should also be safe, user-friendly and durable.
Two kinds of Gas Central Heating Systems are mainly in use; pumped/vented and sealed systems.
Pumped/vented systems are the most common. The pumped/vented Gas Central Heating Systems have an expansion tank and a feed. The hot water tank performs two functions; firstly, supply hot water to your house, and secondly, provides heat to the heating radiators. The tank makes way for any water expansion that is caused by the heating process. It is normally placed at the highest place of the house like the attic area, taking up space. The tank provides a dual supply of hot water and warmth for the house.
Many homes feature a pumped/vented Central Heating System, particularly the ones constructed several year ago.
A Sealed Central Heating System is a relatively modern technology, and is being adopted by many homeowners today. As the name suggests, sealed system is a closed system; no tank is required in this system. There are no tanks or pipework in the loft, the whole system is sealed, its unvented, which has its benefits:.
- Frozen loft pipes are no longer a problem.
- There is no need to maintain the tanks and pipes as there are not present.
- The risk of leakage is cut as there are fewer pipes and the system is less complex.
- The risk of airlocks, corrosion and gunk are reduced because there won’t be any air being taken down into the system through the open holes as the system is sealed.
- Can be flushed out under pressure if needed by the mains water supply.
Such a Sealed Central Heating System is installed with all the required gauges, controls and safeguards. The sealed system gets its water through the main water supply at pressure. The pressure of the main water supply benefits the hot water outlets and gives a healthy shower.
Separated from the sealed system by a diaphragm is a pressure vessel, which contains compressed gas; this vessel is responsible for managing variations of pressure in the heating system. Pressure buildup in a Sealed system can be relieved by a safety valve which drains out water; and pressure drop is compensated by automatic fresh intake of water via another valve.
Central Heating Systems are worth the money as they are cheaper to run than any other form of heating. They offer you a lot more control of your home environment than the other heating systems.
