The wintertime is forthcoming so get a central heating system

Gas central heating is the best way of getting ready for when winter approaches with its longer nights and freezing temperatures. If you have an efficient and safe gas central heating system installed you will enjoy the benefits of a comfortable and snug household.

A central heating system is basically a gas boiler with pipes carrying the heat to heating radiators placed in all the rooms; these systems can be of the pumped or vented type.

Popularly used are pumped systems which comprise of a main feed and expansion water tank that heats up and transmits the heat through pipework to secondary heaters (central heating radiators). The expansion tank does allow for any water expansion that may occur.

In contrast, Sealed systems eliminate this primary water tank section. Since it is completely sealed, the feed-expansion tanks are not required. The main pluses of this system is that problems such as leaking and airlocks are minimised and, particularly for those who live in colder climates, pipes will not freeze.

You may ask why you need central heating and what are its advantages?.

The primary benefit of central heating is that the entire home or office is warmed up rapidly, and that too, without adversely affecting the air around you. In earlier times, gas, electrical or storage heaters were utilised. However these heaters had a odour around them and they also affected the surrounding air, making it less pleasant as an internal environment.

The gas central heating systems are free from all these drawbacks but they need regular maintenance to keep them operating reliably. In many households, these systems are not used during the summer, but as soon as the wintertimes set in, they are intensely used; this should not be done. Try to switch on your heating system during autumn so that if there is any defect, it can be fixed well before wintertimes approach and fixed at a time when the plumbers are less busy.

Furthermore, some of these systems also give admission to air and dirt; therefore flushing is a necessity, which should be done regularly with an annual service schedule. The easiest way to do this is to gently open the valve and allow any water to fall into a bucket placed underneath.
