UK Boiler Efficiency Database
The advice notes for manufacturers presenting data to the UK Boiler Efficiency Database is: -
Data held in the database is used for SAP assessments, and this means other data affecting energy performance is requested as well as efficiency test results. Boiler performance has a large effect on SAP. It is in manufacturers’ interests to get their data right so that their products contribute to better SAP ratings: if information is omitted and default values are taken then SAP results will always be worse.
The database is kept up to date on a monthly cycle with deadlines for data submission is published so that manufacturers can be aware.
Before data is accepted independent certification of efficiency test results is required as. explained in SAP 2001
All entries in the database are subject to technical audit and you should prepare for this.
Product names in the database must be unique, and it is not possible to have two entries with the same conjunction of manufacturer name, model name and model qualifier. This should not be an issue for UK boiler manufacturers.
The naming of a product is very important. If a SAP assessor is unable to identify a boiler beyond doubt, she will simply assign a default value which will always be lower than can be achieved through testing. This may not present a product in its best light.
It is appreciated that in the domestic UK boiler industry it is commonplace to sell virtually identical products under a range of different trade marks / brand names or other identifiers sometimes specified by bulk purchasers; usually known as ‘Badged Products’. Manufacturers attention is drawn to the section in the guidance notes calling for a separate entry for each of these products.
