Upgrade your central heating system with a new heating boiler
Icy winds of winter curl through the trees and you huddle at your window, thinking of heating for your home – this season perhaps you should get yourself central heating. If you have an efficient and safe gas central heating system installed you will enjoy the benefits of a comfortable and snug household.
The two basic types of gas central heating systems are called pumped and vented, both of which are made up of a heating boiler, heating radiators and usually copper pipework.
Popularly used are pumped systems which comprise of a main feed and expansion water tank that heats up and transmits the heat through pipework to secondary heaters (central heating radiators). The expansion tank will always allow for any water expansion that may occur as it gets hot.
There is also what is known as a sealed system in which no centre core is used to warm the central heating radiators. It is basically a closed system, and for this reason, there is no need of water tanks. This system offers a major advantage in that it reduces the risk of leakage and prevents other risks such as airlocks; colder countries like Russia can reap great advantages from this systems since it avoids the risk of frozen pipes.
So the question now is, why do we need gas central heating? Is it really needed?.
One of the greatest advantages of gas central heating is its capability to increase the temperature inside a home or office very quickly without creating any noticeable effects in the air immediately surrounding you. Electric fires, gas and storage heaters were the types used in the old days. However, these were not ideal as they emitted an odour and affected the condition of the air, drying it out.
The gas central heating systems are free from all these drawbacks but they need regular maintenance to keep them functioning reliably. Many households only use their central heating during the cold months and leave them entirely unused during the summertime, this is a common error. Instead, as the weather begins to change, you should use it by degrees in order to spot any problems and give you time to call an heating plumber before wintertime.
It is also important to remember that most household gas central heating systems allow in dust or air, thus requiring regular drainage. You can achieve this most effectively by putting a a bucket under the valve and opening it carefully to release the water, but you need to take extra care to prevent any additional water from entering the system.
